World Economic Forum in Davos startsThe traditional World Economic Forum, held every year, starts today in Davos, Switzerland.
About 2,400 businessmen and politicians are expected to attend the annual WEF, including 900 company chief executives and board chairs and 24 heads of state -- among them British Prime Minister Tony Blair and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The five-day meeting's theme is "Shaping the Global Agenda: The Shifting Power Equation". "Our world is rapidly changing and power is shifting geopolitically, in business terms and even in the virtual world. It is to make sense of this world, and to tackle its complex problems and opportunities, that leaders from all walks of life will once again meet at our Annual Meeting,” said Klaus Schwab, Forum Founder and Executive Chairman.
