A strategy chess-like game. Your objective is to clear the board (graveyard) of your opponent’s pieces (ghouls). Unlike regular chess, you do not see a playing piece until it rises from the grave and you do not know if it will be on your side or your opponent’s until it actually appears.

Exploration of caves takes us into a world much different from that above ground, a world of darkness surrounded by rock and mud. Exotic formations, streams and waterfalls, tight crawlways, deep canyons and pits, huge rooms with large blocks of breakdown, crickets, bats and cave rats await the cave explorer.

Egyptian Monuments

image

This website was created as a result of my many trips to Egypt and my experiences while visiting and photographing the ancient sites. Over the past ten years I have visited and revisited many archaeological sites, vast and awesome temples, fascinating tombs and out-of-the-way places where the memory of an ancient civilisation remains only in scattered ruins. The journey led me to a serious study of Egyptology, a passion that I expect will continue for the rest of my life.

Wooden Architecture, Northern Lights, Iguaçu & Fuel Vapor Car

Japanese Wooden Architecture (4:10)

Mountains comprise 70% of Japan's land area and the Japanese have traditionally valued forests and carefully fostered the culture of wood. There are many large trees in Japan and Japanese people have venerated them as sacred objects while valuing their timber in their daily lives. In this segment, we will introduce the charm of Japan's wooden structures and introduce some of Japan's finest examples: Todaiji Temple Hall (48 meters high, the world's biggest wooden structure), the five-storied pagoda of Horyuji Temple (32.5 meters high, the world's oldest wooden structure), Kintai-kyo bridge (constructed in 1673), and Ise Shrine, which is regularly rebuilt to revere the freshness of wood.

Listening to Northern Lights (7:43)

When solar flares hit the Earth's magnetic field, the skies at both poles can light up with auroras. The particles also create very low frequency electromagnetic waves, a type of natural radio that can be picked up around the globe. Every year sound recordist Steve McGreevy heads north where the reception is best and points his receiver at the sky.

Additional information about observing natural ELF-VLF radio at ground-level, including additional audio files, are at Stephen P. McGreevy's ELF-VLF radio Web site: Spaceweather Sounds, Realm of Natural VLF Radio Phenomena.

The Falls of Iguaçu (3:05)

Taller than Niagara Falls, and twice as wide; Iguazu Falls are the result of a volcanic eruption which left yet another large crack in the earth. More videos of one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the world.

Fuel Vapor Car (3:20)

92mpg & 0-60 in 5 seconds. I want one of those!
This new concept car - the “alé” (alay) uses regular gasoline and a new “fuel vapor technology” to achieve not only outstanding mileage, but extremely low emissions. The first prototype is now complete and the results are outstanding. Plans are for limited production ale's to begin fabrication in 2008.

Dispatches: Supermarket Secrets

How and what we eat has radically changed over the past few decades with the all-consuming rise of the supermarket. But what price are we paying for the homogenised, cheap and convenient food that supermarkets specialise in? In a two-part programme, journalist Jane Moore investigates how supermarkets have affected the food on our plates and reveals the tell-tale signs that the food we buy may not have been grown in the way we think.
-- Source: Channel 4

This documentry is in two parts. The first part deals with Factory Farming, chickens, and general quality of supermarket food. The second part deals with Cows milk, food standards, food waste, pesticides, food globalization, and loss of quality of our produce. Using a combination of undercover filming and scientific analysis.

Part 1 - 49 minutes!

Part 2 - 49 minutes!

The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra

Worldwide one of a kind, the Vegetable Orchestra performs on instruments made of fresh vegetables.

The Vegetable Orchestra performs music solely on instruments made of vegetables. Using carrot flutes, pumpkin basses, leek violins, leek-zucchini-vibrators, cucumberophones and celery bongos, the orchestra creates its own extraordinary and vegetabile sound universe. The ensemble overcomes preserved and marinated sound conceptions or tirelessly re-stewed listening habits, putting its focus on expanding the variety of vegetable instruments, developing novel musical ideas and exploring fresh vegetable sound gardens.

The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra

Looks fun to make an instrument out of veggies.

Electric Sheep

Super cool fractal video "165 Star Oasis" by Scott Draves.
The visuals in this are quite stunning.

Electric Sheep is a free, open source screen saver run by thousands of people all over the world. It can be installed on any ordinary PC or Mac. When these computers "sleep", the screen saver comes on and the computers communicate with each other by the internet to share the work of creating morphing abstract animations known as "sheep".

Electric Sheep: All of Draves' software artworks are released as open source and distributed free on the internet.

First check the Guided Tour of Electric Sheep.

Planet Earth - Mountains

Tour the mightiest mountain ranges, starting with the birth of a mountain at one of the lowest places on Earth and ending at the summit of Everest.

One of Earth's rarest phenomena is a lava lake that has been erupting for over 100 years. The same forces built the Simian Mountains where troops of gelada baboons live, nearly a thousand strong. In the Rockies, grizzlies build winter dens inside avalanche-prone slopes. The programme also brings us astounding images of a snow leopard hunting on the Pakistan peaks, a world first.

Enjoy this 47 minutes!

Have a nice Sunday everyone, lazy or otherwise ...

Overhead, Grolsch, Blobular & Pamplona

image

Overhead Consistence is a mouse-control game that's so fun to play.

I don't have a very steady hand though and I kept reflex clicking. Whoops ... But I, surprisingly, am addicted to this game.

Good Luck!

Grolsch Gardens is a point and click mystery.

Miriam is in trouble and you have to help her. Search everywhere and explore everything.

image

image

In Blobular you don't control the figure - you control the playing field.

Blobular needs to get to his home in Blobsville. Help him in his travels through Planet Blob as he tries to complete this journey.

Extreme Pamplona has 5 action levels.

Run with right and left arrow key - jump with space bar.
