Heute bin ich den ganzen Tag auf Achse - deshalb gibt es nur einen Beitrag - aber mit einem Thema, bei dem ihr euch den ganzen Tag verweilen könnt!
Today I'm on the road all day long - therefore there is only one post - but with a topic where you can stay to it all day long!
 | Syria
A country full of reminders of visits from Persians, Romans, Turks and other ancient imperialists, Syria can rightly be called a country with a rich history. This history, the mix of religions, and the generally friendly people make for a very interesting visit.
The ruins of Palmyra are extensive and cover ten square kilometres. Especially from the Citadel above it, the wall surrounding the city can clearly be seen. Although large part of the city lies in ruins after centuries of rampage, siege and earthquakes, a considerable part is still standing and makes it interesting enough to walk around in wonder for hours. Large parts of the city still remain to be uncovered. It is a challenge to try to imagine the city as it was, with its original inhabitants, colours and sounds. |
Russia
Child of the Soviet Empire, Russia is still an enormous country which could already take a lifetime to explore. The capital nowadays is a mix of proud Russian culture and new cruel market economy life.
Moscow has of course been the capital of the largest country in the world, and it still is, although the country does not have the enormous proportions it had as an empire. Russia is a country that dwarfs all countries in Europe. While beforehand it was not easy to visit the country, nowadays travel is possible, although visa are still required. But travelling in the country is now not limited by permits anymore. |

 | Honduras
The best know site of Honduras, the ruins of Copan are a must-see for any visitor to the country, tucked away in the wilderness near the border with Guatemala. I planned an entire day for them, and needed it.
Copán consists of the Great Plaza, containing mostly stelae, temples, the Ball Court, the Hieroglyphic Staircase, the West Court and East Court with more temples and stelae. While the latter seem to lie on a hill, they actually were built on top of other temples and tombs, still hidden below a green layer of vegetation that has grown to cover it over the many years. |
This are only three examples. Travel Adventures offers personal travel impressions from over 100 countries in pictures and stories. It aims to give travel advice and travel inspiration.
