Pacemaker

Pacemaker Editor enables limitless creative possibilities via an intuitive interface tailor-made for desktop mix production. We’re really happy with the interface, where we’ve aimed for a truly physical experience emulating that of the hand-held Pacemaker. This is all drag-and-drop, pull, stretch, bend and move around. In essence, it’s about adding your personal preferred colouring to a selection of tracks (sort of, conducting your own orchestra with a couple of spray cans in each hand).

Let's Mix: Pacemaker
DJ system and disc jockey mixer equipment available for both PC and Mac.

There are a number of music sites that leverage user-uploaded music scattered across the web to offer free, on-demand jukeboxes.

Streamzy is worth a try - provides a slick, simple interface for finding and playing full-length songs and music videos by just about any band you can think of.

Free Bees - 9/11's a Lie (Stayin' Alive)

A YouTube-based political cover/parody act calling itself The Free Bees rewrote the lyrics of the 1970s disco anthem and Saturday Night Fever theme "Stayin' Alive" to promote the theory that the tragedy of 9/11 was a home-grown conspiracy.

The 'Free Bees' are looking for help in spreading their '9/11's a lie' music video and song far and wide. Reluctantly they have decided that even though they're extremely proud of the work, they are releasing it anonymously.

They believe that this music video has the potential to reach a large audience and as a work of infotainment is amusing, informative and thought provoking.

There's no official statement yet on how the surviving members of the Bee Gees feel about having their iconic hit rewritten ...

Sound Index - The top 1000 chart right now

The Sound Index is a massive index of the hottest bands and tracks that are being talked about on the internet right now.

image

Every six hours the Sound Index crawls some of the biggest music sites on the internet - Bebo, MySpace, Last.FM, iTunes, Google and YouTube - to find out what people are writing about, listening to, watching, downloading and logging on to. It then counts and analyses this data to make an instant list of the most popular 1000 artists and tracks on the web. The more blog mentions, comments, plays, downloads and profile views an artist or track has, the higher up the Sound Index they are. So, the Sound Index is a music buzz index controlled entirely by the public.

The Sound Index - a new online service by the BBC.

Can't help - here is my favourite of today!

Currently in the Index Position: 896
Elton John: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Well, interesting idea from BBC to pool so many resources together ...

O Fortuna

Ha! I love this ad ... and now I want one ...

Ladies and gentlemen, the polyphonic spree:

The opening chorus of Carl Orff's cantata Carmina Burana seems to be the soundtrack of choice to suggest all things BIG.

Probably you want to know what they're really singing:

TinyDrum

This is a very nice music toy called Tinydrum 3.0 and if you click on a few cubes, you'll see what happens ...

The sounds are like a drum and chimes, isn't it?

If you paste the following numbers into the dialog box next to the words 'tinydrum 3.0' you'll be hearing what I'm listening to right now: 1024-9480-2088-17796-265-36896

There are more versions of the TinyDrum here. I like also version 4 and 5.

Moollon Guitars

South Korea is not all about mass produced cheap guitars. Moollon is a company that produces some of the most beautiful handcrafted guitars I've seen. Very very nice stuff indeed.

Have a look: Moollon Guitars - and don't miss the Dragon Guitar ...

Roy Orbison Tribute

April 23 marks the birthday of one of the greatest musical talents of the 20th Century. A contemporary of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins at Sun Records, he was one of the more unlikely looking rock stars ever to leave his immortal mark in music history.

So here's a Happy 72nd birthday, Roy.
Your music is still timeless, beautiful, and rocks!
